The HRTO resolves claims of discrimination and harassment brought under the Human Rights Code, a law that protects people from discrimination and harassment in five areas:

Human Rights is a complex area of law which requires a thorough understanding of the Ontario Human Rights Code along with the practice and procedures of the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal.

The code prohibits discrimination and harassment of any of the following grounds:

  • Race, Colour, Ancestry, Creed, and Place of Origin

  • Citizenship, Ethnic origin and Disability

  • Sex, including sexual harassment and pregnancy

  • Age, Marital status, Family status, and Gender expression)

  • Gender identity, and Sexual orientation

  • Receipt of public assistance (Applies only to claims about housing.)

  • Record of offences (Applies only to claims about employment and to criminal convictions for which you have received a pardon.)​​

Amri holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law with Honors from the University of London. She advanced as the top student of her paralegal graduating class with an award of merit.
